1. Welcome
Alternative Industries operates a platform that connects event planners, vendors, game masters (GMs), venues, and patrons for vendor markets, tabletop nights, and similar events. By using this website or creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
These Terms apply to anyone using the site. Some sections apply only to specific roles, and those are labeled.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a vendor, planner, GM, or venue account, or to enter into transactions on the platform. Patrons must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Some events have additional age restrictions set by the venue or planner (for example, 21+ at brewery events). Those rules are enforced at the door, not by the platform.
If you are using the site on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.
3. Accounts
Anyone can create an account. Full participation as a vendor, planner, GM, or venue requires approval by Alternative Industries. We review applications based on fit, completeness, and history. We are not required to approve any application, and we may revoke approval at any time.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your profile current. One person, one account.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
- Impersonate another person or business
- Interfere with the platform's operation, security, or other users' access
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute platform data without permission
- Manipulate Hype, Likes, ratings, or any other engagement signal
- Create fake accounts, brigades, or coordinated activity to influence placement
5. Prohibited Content
You may not list, display, sell, or promote the following on the platform:
- Unlicensed merchandise using third-party intellectual property. This includes fan art, fan-made goods, and items featuring characters, logos, or trademarks you do not own or have permission to use. You may sell those items in person at events. The platform will not host or display them.
- Adult, sexually explicit, or NSFW content in any image, profile, or listing. You may sell mature or adult work in person at events that allow it. That is between you, the planner, and the venue. The platform will not display it.
- Resale or consignment goods. The platform is for makers and direct creators only.
- Counterfeit goods, stolen property, or items that violate any law.
- Hate speech, incitement to violence, or content targeting people based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
- Weapons, illegal drugs, or regulated items without proper licensing.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
6. Vendor Terms
Vendors apply to events through the platform. Approval is at the planner's discretion. Once approved, booth fees are payable through the platform.
You are responsible for:
- All sales tax, business licensing, and regulatory compliance in your jurisdiction
- The safety, quality, and legality of the items you sell
- Your conduct at events, including loading in, setting up, breaking down, and following venue rules
- Your own product liability
Identity attributes you select on your profile (handmade, no AI, women-owned, Black-owned, LGBTQ+-owned, and similar) are self-reported. We do not verify them. We may remove or correct attributes if we receive credible evidence of misrepresentation.
Promotional offers like the 5-for-1 referral mechanic are administered case by case and are not a guaranteed benefit.
7. Planner Terms
Planners create events, set booth fees and event terms, approve vendors and GMs, and run the event on the day. Planners are responsible for the legal compliance, safety, and operation of their events, including any required permits, insurance, and venue agreements.
The platform provides tools. The platform is not a co-producer, employer, or agent of the planner.
8. GM (Game Master) Terms
GMs apply to events to run tabletop or game sessions, list available seats, and collect table fees and seat fees through the platform. Approval is at the planner's discretion. GMs are responsible for showing up to run their listed sessions. Repeated no-shows are grounds for removal from the platform.
9. Patron Terms
Patrons may browse events, buy tickets, and book GM seats. Tickets and seats are subject to the event's rules and any age, ID, or capacity requirements set by the venue.
10. Refunds and Cancellations
Refund and cancellation policies are still being finalized. Until a written policy is published, requests are handled case by case. To request a refund or report a cancellation, email chris@strangecvlt.com.
A future version of these Terms will include a written refund and cancellation policy. The version posted at the time of your transaction is the version that governs that transaction.
11. Payment Terms
The platform uses Stripe to process payments. By transacting on the platform, you agree to Stripe's terms.
The platform charges a fee on transactions, currently 8% of vendor booth fees, GM seat fees, and patron ticket sales. Rates may change. Current rates are shown at the time of transaction.
Chargebacks initiated without first contacting Alternative Industries may result in account suspension. We will work with you in good faith to resolve payment disputes before any external action.
12. Hype, Likes, and Engagement Signals
Hype is a limited monthly token allocation that expires and renews. Likes are unlimited and binary. Both are visible across user profiles, vendor listings, and event pages.
You may not buy, sell, trade, or manipulate Hype or Likes. You may not coordinate with others to inflate or suppress engagement. Doing so is grounds for account suspension.
Hype and Likes are signals, not guarantees. They influence placement but do not guarantee approval, sales, or attendance.
13. Intellectual Property
You own the content you upload, including product photos, bios, and listings. By uploading content to the platform, you grant Alternative Industries a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote that content on the platform and in connection with the platform's marketing. This license ends when you remove the content, except for copies kept in backups, archives, or already shared with users.
The platform itself, including the site design, brand names (Alternative Industries, Monster Mall, Yokai Mall, Mimic Haul, Boo's and Brews, SpeakEZ), logos, and software, is owned by Alternative Industries. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute it without written permission.
If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to chris@strangecvlt.com with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3).
14. Communications and SMS Consent
By creating an account, you agree to receive transactional emails from the platform, including application status, booth confirmations, payment receipts, and run-of-show updates.
By providing a phone number and opting in, you agree to receive text messages from the platform related to your events, including run-of-show updates day-of. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP. Opting out of texts does not opt you out of email.
We comply with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and similar laws.
15. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you agree to the practices described there.
16. Disputes Between Users
Most disputes between users (vendor and planner, GM and planner, patron and vendor) should be resolved between the parties directly. Alternative Industries is not a party to those disputes. We may, at our discretion, choose to mediate or assist, but we are not required to.
A formal dispute resolution process is in development and will be added to these Terms in a future update.
17. Termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate any account for violation of these Terms, for fraud, for chargeback abuse, for repeated no-shows, or at our discretion with reasonable notice.
Outstanding obligations (paid booth fees, completed transactions, intellectual property licenses) survive termination.
18. Disclaimers
The platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Alternative Industries does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from using the platform, including approval, sales, attendance, or revenue.
We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, the safety of any event, or the quality of any item sold through the platform.
19. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alternative Industries' total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the platform is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid to the platform in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred dollars ($100).
Alternative Industries is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or loss of goodwill, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Some states do not allow these limitations. In those states, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
20. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alternative Industries, its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your infringement of any third party's rights.
21. Modifications
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted at /terms with a new “last updated” date. Significant changes will be announced by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the platform after the update means you accept the new Terms.
22. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the platform must be resolved by binding individual arbitration in Los Angeles County, California, administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. You and Alternative Industries waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.
If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest of the section remains in effect, and the unenforceable part will be replaced by the closest enforceable equivalent.
23. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies linked from the platform, are the entire agreement between you and Alternative Industries about the platform. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign ours.
